I dont think it has to .. all it has to do is make me smile and there is
a measure of success right there. that and there are very very few
orginal sounds out there. Which is why I like groups like Tinariwen who
are a breath of fresh air in a very stale genre-ized room. Mash ups
particularly of new with old or of songs that cross genre boundaries and
would not normally be associated one with the other challenge our
perceptions of the music that we are familiar with and can make us
listen to it is a different way .... sometimes it works and sometimes it
doesnt and like all art visual or audidle it comes down to .. "what you
like is what you like?" :-)
